About Paul Cole

I love buying and selling on Amazon! Even more than that, I love sharing what I've learned with other sellers and learning from their experiences. When I'm not thinking about Amazon, I like to run, bicycle and bake delicious desserts.

This is a very helpful illustration of how the sales rank for an item that sells less frequently can swing wildly while the rank for a steady seller holds steady.

Speaking for the team behind the Amazon seller, Wigglish (http://goo.gl/CGN6g), we’ve observed that the price at which an item sells also influences its rank. An item listed for $6 that we sell a few times a week will have a numerically higher (less favorable) rank than one we sell less often, but for which the price is much higher, say $60. We haven’t systematically analyzed the effect, but would be interested in knowing if this can be derived from analysis.
